Challenge |
The carry-back at
this ship loading facility was unacceptable by
any means. The problem was so bad that they
would have plies over 6’ high before a ship was
fully loaded. Many different styles of belt
cleaners were tried, however none were
satisfactory to the customer. Because this
facility is on the water, environmental
regulations are strict and heavy fines are
placed even for a small amount of carry-back of
material on the ground or worse in the water.
Due to the corrosive environment the belt
cleaners need to be stainless steel and easy to
maintain.

Over 6’ over carry-back from 1 - 40,000
ton ship |

Solution |
ASGCO
analyzed the challenge and recommended the
Skalper IV primary system with EZ-Torque
tensioner and the Razor-Back TC (Tungsten
Carbide) with all 316-grade stainless steel
components. This combination of primary urethane
cleaner and secondary tungsten carbide cleaners
proved to be the answer for this challenge. |

Results
|
The customer is more than
satisfied with the combination of cleaners and
will be eventually changing out all of his
current cleaners. The fines the customer used to
pay, more than paid for the upgrade to all ASGCO
belt cleaners. We are also addressing any other
transfer point and load zone problems. |
